2. Pipe Bursting

Pipe bursting is used when a pipe is too deteriorated for lining — collapsed sections, severe belly, or Orangeburg pipe (a cardboard-like material used in NJ homes built before 1970 that deteriorates completely over time). A bursting head is pulled through the old pipe, fracturing it outward while simultaneously pulling a new HDPE pipe into place behind it. This requires only two small access points — entry and exit — rather than full excavation.
