24/7 Emergency Plumbing NJ
When a plumbing emergency strikes, every minute counts. Sewage backing up into your home, a burst pipe flooding your basement, or an overflowing toilet that won't stop can cause thousands of dollars in water damage within hours. Jersey Drain Cleaning is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year — including every holiday. We dispatch immediately upon your call and arrive fully equipped to diagnose and resolve the problem on the first visit in most cases.
Our emergency response team handles the full spectrum of urgent plumbing situations: main sewer line backups, burst and frozen pipes, sewage overflows, catastrophic drain failures, and flooding from unexpected leaks. We bring professional-grade diagnostic tools, clearing equipment, and common repair materials on every call so we're not making multiple trips while your home takes on water.
New Jersey homeowners face specific emergency risks. The freeze-thaw cycles of NJ winters burst supply lines and outdoor spigots. The state's aging sewer infrastructure — particularly pre-1960 clay tile laterals — can fail suddenly when tree roots finally bridge a crack or when saturated ground shifts a pipe. During heavy rain events, city sewer surcharge pushes back through basement floor drains. These are the calls we handle every single day.

Emergency Services We Provide
What to Do Right Now Before We Arrive
If water is actively flowing from a burst pipe: Locate your main water shutoff valve — typically in the basement or utility room near the water meter — and turn it clockwise to close it. This stops flow to the entire house. Then call us.
If the toilet is overflowing: Close the shutoff valve at the base of the toilet — it's the football-shaped valve on the wall behind the toilet. Turn it clockwise until the water stops running. Do not flush again. Call us.
If sewage is backing up through basement drains: Stop using all fixtures immediately — no toilets, sinks, showers, or washing machines. Every flush and drain use pushes more sewage into the backup. Remove valuables from the basement area if it's safe to do so. Call us immediately.
For a main sewer line backup: This is a priority emergency. Our team will assess whether the blockage is in your building drain, your sewer lateral, or caused by city sewer surcharge — and clear it as quickly as possible.
Common Emergency Plumbing Scenarios in NJ Homes
Frozen Pipe Burst (January–February)
NJ's hard freezes cause supply lines in uninsulated exterior walls and crawl spaces to burst. When the ice thaws, water pours out. Turn off the main shutoff and call us — we repair the pipe and assess for secondary freeze damage.
Main Sewer Line Backup (Year-Round)
A blocked sewer lateral pushes sewage up through basement floor drains. Causes include tree roots, grease accumulation, and debris blockages. We clear the line within hours and perform camera inspection to prevent recurrence.
City Sewer Surcharge During Heavy Rain
When municipal sewer systems reach capacity during heavy storms, pressure forces wastewater backward into private sewer laterals. Homes without backwater valves are especially vulnerable. We clear the line and advise on backwater valve installation.
Sump Pump Failure and Basement Flooding
When a sump pump fails during a storm, water accumulates quickly. We assess drain and pump systems and clear any drain backup contributing to the flooding.
